After experiencing a bone fusion, Joan required additional care at a skilled nursing center. This was a stressful situation for Joan, as she was typically independent with activities of daily living. home management tasks. and was known as an active member within her community.
Upon arrival, Joan could not bear weight on her leg, leaving her unable to move freely as she wished. Additionally, her treatment required her to need assistance with all daily tasks, and she could not transfer from one surface to another without caregiver assistance. Joan’s biggest motivator throughout therapy was to be able to return home.
Through hard work and the help of her therapists, Joan was able to achieve independence with bed mobility and transfers. With the setup of adaptive equipment recommended by her Everyday Safe Living® Virtual Assessment, Joan is now able to complete ADLs independently. Joan and her family were receptive to recommendations, and felt she could successfully return home after her rehab stay.
Joan was incredibly appreciative of all the therapists who assisted in her care. She was ecstatic that she could safely return home with the support of her family. Way to go, Joan!
