Prior to his fall, Bob was significantly independent and functionally active. He enjoyed biking on his recumbent tricycle and often took the bus around town. When Bob fell, he experienced gait and mobility difficulties and a shoulder injury, which required him to use a walker.

Upon arrival, Bob focused on re-educating his neuromuscular system and gait training. Through Physical Therapy, Bob increased his walking distance, improved his strength, and regained his balance enough to sit upright and ride on his beloved tricycle!

After PT with Powerback, Bob:

  • Can now walk short distances without an assistive device, using a mobility aid as needed.
  • Has overcome his fear of falling
  • Can now lift and turn his tricycle (~100 lbs!) on its side in case of tire repairs/changes
  • Has returned to biking (more than 4 miles), reigniting his passion to live an active and independent lifestyle

Bob wrote our team a letter to describe his experience:

“After my stumble (faceplant), my care team wanted me to have some PT to improve my balance and stability. I was shuffling along with a walker or cane with no confidence in my walking ability. After therapy, I am comfortable walking short distances without assistance on solid surfaces. My body has lost its tensions, pain, and gained durability– thanks to Kate and her manipulations and exercises.”
