John arrived after a brief hospitalization where he was unable to return home due to decreased strength, balance, and coordination. He also required oxygen to address fatigue, and needed assistance keeping track of the cord that had to now follow him everywhere. During his recovery journey, John was one of the first patients to get up and ready for the day. Each day, he was motivated to go a little further than he had the day before, with the hope of moving to an assisted living facility.
Throughout his recovery, John was eagerly supported by not only his Powerback therapy team, but also the nursing department, his daughter, and palliative care agency. John's unwavering faith that he could successfully return back to an independent life helped him to reach his goals. Originally, John needed assistance with transfers and ADLs. With therapy, these outlooks transformed into John completing ADLs independently, without physical assistance. Way to go, John!
