Carol's Recovery: Day by Day

After a stroke required hospitalization, Carol struggled with mobility, self-care, swallowing, and communication.

Upon arrival, Carol required a modified diet and had a limited ability to speak. Throughout her recovery, Carol focused on taking each moment "day by day", striving to overcome the challenges she faced in therapy. With the help of a specialized swallow study and the use of an AAC device, she improved. Despite experiencing expressive language challenges throughout therapy, Carol’s love for music remained intact—she could sing along to many Beatles songs.

After PT, OT, and Speech Therapy with Powerback, Carol:

• Can now walk with a mobility aid
• Completes ADLs with assistance
• Can now eat chopped foods, thin liquids, and communicate more effectively
