Against the odds after a significant fall and hospitalization, Mitchell embarked on a remarkable recovery journey. Initially facing serious swallowing difficulties that necessitated a feeding tube, Mitchell approached his therapy with enthusiasm and determination.
Upon arrival, Mitchell was designated NPO (nothing by mouth). Innovative therapy provided by Powerback Speech Therapists helped Mitchell to relearn how to swallow safely, which led to Mitchell undergoing a successful Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) exam by Powerback Swallow Solutions. Additionally, Mitchell experienced difficulty recalling recent events, and provided information.
After a successful FEES with Powerback Swallow Soltuions, this fantastic news meant he could eat again – and just in time to
enjoy his birthday cake! Alongside this, Mitchell made significant strides in his cognitive abilities, with his BCAT score improving
impressively.
The ultimate victory was the removal of his feeding tube, allowing Mitchell to enjoy regular meals and regain crucial independence.
