Marlene has experienced numerous cancer diagnoses over the past 10 years and encountered repeated hip fractures, replacements, and a brain cyst, causing right-sided weakness. By June of 2025, she was non-ambulatory and wheelchair bound.
After transitioning to Powerback Rehab to You, the interdisciplinary team, PT/OT team focused on strength recovery, transfer training, and functional mobility. Despite the second hip dislocation and brain surgery, she showed remarkable resilience. Progressing from total dependent to independent transfers, self-propelling her wheelchair, and limited rollator ambulation.
Today, Marlene is fully independent in ADLs, navigates steps and ramps, and has returned to pursuing hobbies and social activities–a true story of self determination and staff excellence in restoring independence.
